Edra Soto
Dos Cuerpos (Two Bodies) is a series of paint and mixed media works that feature imprints of the reja and quiebrasol motifs used in Soto’s Grafts. The works strip away the architectural framework and physicality of these structures so that only ghostly impressions of the interior design elements are left behind. Soto’s work visualize the sense of fragmentation and loss many immigrants experience when moving to a new and different country. The absence and longing ties us to one identity even as we build another. Dos Cuerpos (Two Bodies) poetically distills how a place, a nation, or a culture imprints on us, grounding us and growing with us no matter where we are.
