In the painting, the women are dressed as magicians and the women's legs in the back are disappearing when you look closely. I view this as the erasure of black women and this may go unnoticed at first due to their outfits. Nancy Reagan watches on with laughter. The 1980s had the AIDS crisis that went ignored for far too long and the crack epidemic that destroyed many black communities due to violence and racially biased laws that locked many people of color away.
