These are the grills of the speakers which is where sound comes through while at the same time preventing the accumulation of dust inside the electronic components. Sound is vibrational energy. Although these once had sound coming from them and now they’re silent, they still have a vibrational energy, a visual one as a record of their usage. It is like a fingerprint making each piece of fabric different. Since now they are out of circulation they will no longer produce sound. Instead You can imagine the sound even though it is not there. I drew some with circular patterns, in that way they reference something that is out of reach.
