Pinocchio's Folly
Phyllis Bramson
A self-described “painter-comedian,” Bramson’s palette is a colorful array of beauty, humor, love, and lust. In Pinocchio’s Folly, Bramson creates an erotic anecdote out of the 19th Century folktale by Carlo Collodi, telling a story of boyhood crushes and animating the lengths to which boys may go to act on them. Her collaged narrative captures all the charm and sentimental qualities of a hand-me-down quilt infused with family lore and the undefinable mystique of her female protagonist.
