Sundials (Tumeric)
A research-based interdisciplinary artist known for her dexterous reframing of colonial histories, Hương Ngô recodifies our collective memories in a decolonial light. Sundials (Tumeric) is an ongoing project using natural dye and cotton to create her own version of a the horological instrument used to tell time with light and shadow. Choosing a bright turmeric yellow for her sun impressions, the subtle folds and deep creases of the fabric create compelling geometries that foreground absence as a way to emphasize gaps in historical narratives.
