ALEJANDRO FIGUEREDO DÍAZ-PERERA and CARA MEGAN LEWIS make up the team Díaz Lewis. Díaz Lewis is based in Los Angeles where they collaborate, stage performances and develop work that deals with shared global and human-rights interests. Their ongoing project include 34,000 Pillows, is in direct response to a US Congress mandate where 34,000 immigrants must be detained per day in one of 250 detention facilities. Another work, A Dream Deferred is a two-channel HD/8mm video installation simulataneously that follows a game of soccer in the desert between undocumented workers while a young girl reads from Langston Hughes' poem Harlem.
Alejandro Figueredo Diaz-Perera is a conceptual artist from Havana, Cuba who works a variety of media including: video, photography, painting, installation and text. |
Cara Megan Lewis is an artist and curator born in Kansas City who is deeply invested in immigrant-rights based issues. Cara works in a variety of materials including photography and sculpture.
