With acute attention to the histories of his material choices, Derrick Woods-Morrow created Waveform I With Disappearing Horizon Line with the same depth in medium. Lint functions as a symbol of domestic labor with inclusions of human DNA while indigo takes the viewer back to the histories of enslaved Africans who first brought the knowledge of indigo cultivation to the United States. Resin bonds the two with a permanence that asserts itself as a retelling of Black American history and how it has shaped visual culture today.
